Merit Brass’ product portfolio includes 6061 Aluminum Pipe and Pipe Nipples. Merit prides itself on maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and delivering piping components that serve your daily PVF needs. The 6061 aluminum alloy is a precipitation hardened alloy which has corrosion resistant properties.

There are several industrial and commercial applications for the 6061 aluminum alloy. This alloy is used because of its exceptional strength, resistance to corrosion, and its versatility. It is commonly used in the construction, aerospace, marine, and oil industries. Specific applications include rail coaches, automotive frames, architectural structures, and more.

EXPLORE THE INDUSTRIES WE SERVE

Aluminum comes in various types. The type 6061 (which belongs to the 6000 series) has a mixture of aluminum, magnesium, and silicon. This alloy offers excellent strength properties.

While this alloy of aluminum carries strength, it is lightweight. If weight reduction is a factor for you, aluminum may be your ideal choice. Industries such as aerospace and automotive manufacturing often find this series of aluminum ideal for their applications.

6061 Aluminum’s composition has corrosion resistance because of the protective oxide layer that is formed when it is exposed to the air.  Not only does this protect against elements in the environment; but it also prolongs the lifespan of the material.

Weldability is yet another benefit of using aluminum. Various processes can seamlessly integrate it into their system. There are many factors to consider with using 6061 Aluminum including the amount of exposure to specific elements (e.g. alkaline), temperatures, conditions of soil, atmospheric conditions, and water conditions.

Always consult your project team prior to choosing aluminum as your alloy of choice for your piping system and its performance.
